The single most damning number in women's sports. In 2024, the WNBA supermax salary was $241,984. The NBA rookie minimum was $1,157,153. An NBA rookie — who may never play a minute — is guaranteed 4.8 times what the best-paid WNBA veteran can earn. This is not a gap. It is a different economy.
The 2026 CBA changes the math: a $7 million salary cap, a $1.4 million supermax, roughly 20% of basketball-related revenue going to players. The supermax nearly sextuples. But the gap it closes took thirty years to name.
